Just in time for the christmas season, OTE, the incumbent telecom operator, which happens to be the supplier of my ADSL connection, has announced drastic price cuts to their services. I ordered my upgrade yesterday and as a result I will soon have a 24Mbps/1Mbps ADSL2+ connection for €29.90/month, VAT, ISP, all inclusive, no data limitations. That’s just 50 euro cents more than I paid in March 2004 when I got my first ADSL connection at 512Kbps/128Kbps. But that was for the LINE only. My ISP (then Tellas) charged me an additional €35/month for the connection to the world wide wondernet. w00t! Surprising what a little open market competition can accomplish!

To show my appreciation for OTE I have included below a commercial which they ran a while a go, subtitled in English by some friendly YouTube user, that I just find hilarious. It so pointedly shows the generation gap in the digital age. The father figure has no idea why his daughter is so upset, so it’s probably a female problem, “go talk to your mother”. Enjoy it!
