Hi, i believe I met you on Lively once a long time ago. I remember you trying to have decent intelligent conversation with some of us in Jen's, but I never really ran into you again before or after that.
I have to agree, Lively was way better than all the rest of the virtual worlds for conversation. It is tight, concise, really easy to meet and talk to people. Honestly I like Second Life better because it is so much fun to create with it. But Lively is pure conversation. Sure, you could go to a text chat room but seeing the other person in cartoon 3D makes a huge difference. I honestly can say I met real friends in Lively. In the past 3 months on SL I have spoken to a grand total of about 10 people, whereas in Lively I was talking to different people constantly every single day. SL is fun, but the point of it is to talk and you just don't do that easily in SL. SL is too much like real life, you don't want to bother people, but in Lively there is nothing to do but talk to people. Plus, in SL you have to compete for traffic, whereas Lively you just went wherever people were, and it was easy to find. And you always found the same people all the time. That was its strength, and it was a huge strength. So much so that I would rather go there to talk to people than any other program. I use SL a lot only because I like to explore and build.
Your comment about myspace is interesting, because the ultimate goal of Lively was to be a virtual space in social networking sites. Unfortunately that was the exact audience they were looking for. But I understand that and I think even with that presence Lively was still great.
At any rate, if you are still using Lively drop me a line, busy times and that room name so I can have some decent conversations before it goes away.

btw, this is a funny story you might want to read about something that happened to me on Lively that is quite incredible

Oriste, you have given a thoughtful explanation of Lively to the uninitiated but have reminded your fellow Liverlyzen of the many reasons it is special to me. Thank you :)
